EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND – Security Officers are screened for positive employment history.
CRIMINAL RECORD – Security Officers must have a clean criminal history to legally work for our company. Security Officers receive a State of Tennessee, Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, and Federal Bureau of Investigations background investigation prior to receiving employment.
SECURITY LICENSE – Security Officers must provide a valid Security License which is validated on the State of Tennessee website prior to receiving employment.
DRIVING RECORD – Security Officers who are responsible for operating our company vehicles and golf carts, must provide evidence of a valid driver’s license. Our insurance provider validates the driver’s record to ensure each employee driving a company vehicle displays reasonable care and judgment.
LITERACY – Security Officers must comprehend and efficiently read, communicate, and write in the English Language. These skills are examined during the beginning stages of our employment screening.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE – Security Officers are required to present a positive appearance while on duty in our security uniforms, similar to the standards of military and law enforcement.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
The State of Tennessee requires Unarmed Security Officers to be a minimum of 18 years of age to legally work in the State.
The State of Tennessee also requires Armed Security Officers to be a minimum of 21 years of age to legally work in the State.

STEP 1: THE INTERVIEW
Trinity United Security Services employs highly trained recruiters. The recruiters have been trained on strict selection guidelines and provide a talent for recruiting the best possible candidates. Trinity United Security Services utilizes several options for recruiting our Security Officers including, security training academies, employment resource centers located in Universities & Colleges, State of Tennessee unemployment resource websites, employment websites, and local job resource centers for unemployed veterans. Typically 50 percent of our applicants will not succeed beyond the initial interview with our Recruiting Department.
STEP 2: THE BACKGROUND CHECK
Trinity United Security Services background investigation includes Criminal History, Civil History, Department of Motor Vehicle History, Employment History, Verification of Education, State of Tennessee License Verification, State of Tennessee Training Verification, along with State of Tennessee Certification Verification for any additional certificates such as Club, Stun Gun, Chemical Spray, Night Stick or other less than lethal device.
STEP 3: DRUG SCREENING
Our Employment Process includes pre-employment drug testing along with random drug screening throughout employment.
The 12 panel multi drug test includes testing for the following drugs – Amphetamine, Cocaine, Oxycodone, Marijuana, Phencyclidine, Ecstasy, Morphine, Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, Methadone, Methamphetamine, and Buprenorphine.
STEP 4: ORIENTATION
Security Officers who succeed in moving past the first 3 steps of our selection process will proceed forward and attend our New Hire Orientation Class. The classroom instructor will assess each Security Officer and examine their observation skills, reporting abilities, communication skills, along with their overall intelligence with a series of simulations and written tests. The completion of this orientation will include learning company rules and regulations, receiving company handbook, learning to fill out timesheets, reviewing safety guidelines, and signing the employment packet.
STEP 5: SECURITY OFFICER TRAINING
Security Officers who successfully complete the orientation class and receive employment from our Human Resources Department following the final review of their employment file will move on to Field Training. Security Officers will receive Field Training by a Management Team Member and or a Field Supervisor. During this training the Security Officers will be trained onsite at their assigned locations. The Security Officers will receive written Property Instructions, a clear review of the Property Instructions, Equipment, Cell Phone Communication, Radio Communication, Keys and Access Cards, Emergency Contacts, Emergency Evacuation Plans, Maps of the Site, Computer, and complete briefing of Site Expectations.
Requirements for unarmed security guard registration
Be at least 18 years of age for registration as an unarmed security guard.
Be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien.
If convicted in any jurisdiction of any of the crimes listed in this subdivision (4), have completed serving sentence or court ordered probation at least five (5) years prior to application. Conviction of the following crimes shall disqualify an applicant, subject to the conditions stated in this section:
(A) Any felony; or
(B) Any misdemeanor involving:
(I) Shooting a firearm or other weapon;
(II) Shoplifting;
(III) Assault and battery or other act of violence against persons or property;
(IV) Crimes involving the sale, manufacture or distribution of controlled substances, controlled substance analogues, drugs or narcotics;
(V) Theft of property; or
(VI) Theft of services;
Not be suffering from habitual drunkenness or narcotics addiction or dependence;
Not have any disability that, in the opinion of the commissioner, prevents the applicant from performing the duties of a security guard/officer; and
Be of good moral character.
Must meet the training requirements.
Submit three fingerprint cards for processing for a TBI and or FBI criminal history check, or submit electronic fingerprints.
Training Requirements
Training includes an examination covering subjects in which the individual must have training. All candidates must complete a four hour basic course including one (1) hour each of:
Orientation.
Legal powers and limitations of a security guard/officer.
Emergency procedures.
General duties.
Training Requirements for the use of a Club, Stun Gun, Chemical Spray, and Night Stick or other less than lethal device.
Registered guards or applicants who will carry a club, stun gun, chemical spray, night stick or other less than lethal device, the commissioner shall require appropriate training specific to such device by a certified trainer who is certified to instruct for such specific device. It shall be the employers' responsibility to keep training records of their employees for each device. The security officer/guard shall also have in such person's possession a certification card issued by an instructor/trainer who is certified to instruct/train in the legal use of such specific device and shall exhibit such card upon demand by the commissioner or the commissioner's duly authorized agent or any full time law enforcement officer.
Renewals
Unarmed Guards/Officers renew registration every two (2) yea
All armed security guards must meet the armed guard registration requirements in order to be authorized to carry a firearm.
Requirements
Be at least 21 years of age for registration as an armed security guard.
Be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien.
Not have been declared by any court of competent jurisdiction incompetent by reason of mental defect or disease unless a court of competent jurisdiction has since declared the applicant competent;
If convicted in any jurisdiction of any of the crimes listed in this subdivision, have completed serving sentence or court ordered probation at least five (5) years prior to application.
Conviction of the following crimes shall disqualify an applicant, subject to the conditions stated in this section:
(A) Any felony; or
(B) Any misdemeanor involving:

Any additional training for weapons or other devices that are less than lethal he or she will use.
An armed guard must complete eight additional hours in the classroom covering:

In addition, an armed guard applicant must complete an additional four hours of marksmanship training and achieve a minimum of 70% on any silhouette target course approved by the commissioner.

Armed Guards/Officers must renew their registration every two (2) years.
Every two (2) years armed security guards must complete four hours of refresher training and requalify in the use of a firearm by achieving a minimum of 70% on any silhouette target course approved by the commissioner prior to the renewal of their guard registration.

Written tests regarding the post instruction manuals for new Trinity United Security Officers are administered at the client’s job site. Within the first 30 days on site, Trinity United Security Officers are given field evaluations to measure the Security Officers performance and retention of the information inside the client’s property instruction manual. Corporate Managers and Field Managers conduct continuous one on one verbal evaluations to ensure the Security Officers in the field react correctly to routine duties and emergency situations.
